CULTURAL SAFARI

Once a month we have organized in Córdoba, the cradle of the Dogo breed, what we have called CULTURAL SAFARI

This proposal is intended for those who love history, adventure and the Dogo Argentino.

You will return home with a puppy of your choice, since we will make you a present of it, and with the memory of an unforgettable experience lived in the native land of the Dogo Argentino.

The itinerary is the following:

Thursday

Arrival in Córdoba City in the afternoon, overnight at the Sheraton Hotel and dinner with traditional dishes.

 

Friday

9:00 am Breakfast.

9:30 am Córdoba City Tour, Jesuitic ruins, Santa Isabel´s country house.

11:30 am Trip to Totoral and history of the birth of the breed delivered by Beatriz Nores Martínez ( Dr Antonio Nores Martínez´s daughter) and a visit to the “picada” where the breed creator died.

1:00 pm Lunch: Creole barbecue and fine wine.

4:00 pm Trip to Estancia La Cocha.

8:00 pm Reception by Nores Martínez family, lodging at the Estancia.

9:00 pm Dinner with traditional dishes :“tamales”(ground maize and sometimes meat or a sweet filling wrapped in a maize leaf),“locro”( stew containing meat, beans and vegetables), “humita” ( flavored corn paste wrapped in corn leaves), “kid” ( young goat),etc.

 

Saturday

9:00 am Breakfast

9:30 am Archeological tour, visit to the aboriginal cemetery, the place where the oldest and more complete bone rests were found in South America ( 8,000 years BC), horse riding to the aboriginal house where rupestrian art can be appreciated (“Comechingon” aboriginal pictography).

 

12:00 am Presentation of our specimens of Argentine Dogo, their history, their ancestors and their functional characteristics.

1:00 pm Lunch: picking brine (made with oil, vinegar, peppercorns and bay leaves) of “vizcacha”, wild boar, deer, barbecue and vegetables.

3:00 pm Horse riding towards the mountains where you can practise:

        rainbow trout fishing in the extremely clear mountain rivers

 

     witness some demonstrations of gaucho skill.

 

11:00 pm Return to the Estancia and dinner.

 

Sunday

9:00 am Breakfast.

10:00 am Horse riding in the mountains accompanied by the pack of dogos. Each visitor chooses one puppy.

12:00 am Lunch

4:00 pm Retun to Córdoba City.

9:00 pm Overnight at the Sheraton Hotel.

 

The Cultural Safari is going to take place twice a month from June 2003 to December 2004.

This rate includes all the activities previously mentioned, meals, beverages, transportation, accommodation and a puppy chosen by the visitor. A videotape about the Dogo Argentino will also be provided, as well as a 
certificate from the daughter of the creator of the breed, and a picture of Dr Antonio Nores Martínez autographed by his children. 

Not included in tour are the air fares for the visitor, travel insurance, and the travel expenses of the puppy and its cage.

We are grateful to Luis and Santiago for the pleasing moment we spent together. They hunted a 130kg stallion in the province of La Pampa, and they took Muro de La Cocha who is 5 months old.
